The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria has deployed a technology payment gateway to help reduce cash transactions in transport operations and improve public safety.

The creative project tagged ‘RTEAN KarryGo’, focuses to revolutionize the transportation industry in the country.

The President of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Maitakobi, represented by his Deputy, Mr. Muhammad Bushara, during the launch of the platform developed by DiGIX Technologies Limited in partnership with Wema Bank, said the technology would provide a seamless financial transaction process for the transiting Nigerians, in line with the present cashless policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to Mr. Bushara, the RTEAN had been known for introducing programs and policies that impacted positively on the lives of its members and the general public.

He said in his words, “This program during execution will put in check issues of insecurity, as all information about the travelers final destinations would have been collated from the electronic or digital manifest generated in the cause of processing their payment for the journey.

“We will also have quick ticket purchasing and boarding, spontaneous travel and motivate the use of public transport, eliminate fraud and improve accountability. The process will automatically issue e-receipt via SMS to eliminate paper ticket sales, among others.”

The Founder and Director of DiGIX Technologies Limited, Mr. Damola Akindolire, noticed the platform would position the Nigeria public transport system ahead of its peers in Africa and reinforce the country’s status as a giant it is in the continent.

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Alhaji Dauda Biu, highlighted the importance of safety on the roads, especially as the rainy season approaches.
