A Grade I Area Court around Dei-Dei, Abuja, on Monday 17th of April 2023, ordered the remand of a 30year-old woman, Miss Jumoke Cyril, in Suleja Correctional facility for allegedly swindling one Mr. Alade Nelson and 12 others in the sum of N478,000.

Miss Cyril who resides in the area of Zuba was charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The presiding Judge, Saminu Suleiman, gave the directive after the defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charges read against her.

Earlier in court, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that Nelson and 12 others reported the crime committed on April 11 at Zuba Police Station.

The prosecution counsel claimed that on January 3rd of 2022, the defendant deceived the complainants into contributing N478,000 and promised to give them the money by December 2022. Then converted the money into her personal use.

According to counsel, the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code i the Nigerian constitution.

The judge adjourned the case till June 6 of this year for hearing.
